Restorative Yoga Teacher Training: Common Questions answered
How do I become a Restorative Yoga Teacher?
After your initial training you can do a Restorative Yoga Teacher Training - we have 2 options!
How long is the Restorative Yoga Teacher Training?
At Aruna Yoga, we have 2 options for restorative yoga teacher training:
Aruna’s Restorative Yoga Teacher Training Short Course is 20 hours total (two full days, with additional project work between the days).
Aruna’s 50-hour Specialist in Restorative Yoga (combines the Restorative & Yoga Nidra short courses with an additional assignment) it is a deeper, more immersive option.
Is the training certified?
Yes! Both options are certified as continuing education with Yoga Alliance Professionals
Why Aruna Yoga Academy’s Teacher training?
There are so many options out there so why choose Aruna Yoga?
The trainers: At Aruna Yoga we pride ourselves on having extremely knowledgeable and experienced trainers. Laura taught restorative yoga every week for 7 years, held restorative retreats & workshops for years before sharing her knowledge,
Embodied, somatic-informed approach: We don’t just teach poses; we teach you how to feel the nervous system, read subtle cues, and support rest at a deep level.
Teaching style: At Aruna Yoga we take a very practical approach to teaching and learning. We take a hands on approach and practise what we teach on the trainings. We teach in a way that integrates into your current understanding and classes. This means you leave feeling confident and ready to share your new knowledge with your students.
And if that lit your fire, then it’s probably the training for you!
Should I do the 20hr Restorative Short Course or the 50hr Restorative specialist?
Personally, I would do the specialist because the depth of understanding you get from the Yoga Nidra is incredible. The worry of what to say to relax your students nervous system is gone because you have the tools of Yoga Nidra. However, if you’re not convinced why not dip your toe in with the 20hr Restorative Short Course and then if you love it as much as I think you will, add on the 20hr Yoga Nidra Short Course (+ additional assignment) later to get your 50hr Restorative Specialist.

What is the difference between Restorative Yoga and Yin Yoga?
Many people are actually looking for Restorative Yoga when they come across Yin. Yin yoga uses long-held poses for stretching, while restorative yoga uses props for full support and deep rest. Yin is actually quite a strong practise while also being still. Sometimes teachers bring props into Yin allowing some Restorative elements!
Where can I teach it after?
The opportunities are endless - a weekly restorative class, a retreat, a workshop, a deeper savasana at the end of a general yoga class.
The world truly is your oyster!
