Reducing your Stress levels during Menopause

Chronic stress is one of the most debilitating yet overlooked symptoms in Perimenopause and changing hormone levels may mean that our tolerance to stress decreases.

Stress also plays a role in our inability to lose weight so self-care must become our number one focus during these times. In this heightened state, the body goes into fight or flight mode and our adrenal glands start to produce cortisol and adrenaline over the production of oestrogen and progesterone. Not good news for menopausal women who need these hormones for our emotional well-being!

Managing stress levels can calm your nervous system, reduce the impact on your adrenal glands, help you sleep better and improve your overall wellbeing.

So what can we do to help?

🌻Regular enjoyable exercise such as yoga, swimming or pilates

🌻Meditation, breathwork or other mindfulness practice

🌻Developing a supportive sleep routine

🌻Eating a nutritionally balanced range of foods

🌻Reducing alcohol and caffeine

Self-care means listening and honouring the needs of your physical, mental and emotional well being and loving and supporting yourself.
