5 Myths about Yoga Teacher Training
Myth 1: It is only for people who want to teach
You can gain so much from a yoga teacher training and never teach. Or you may even change your mind half way through and decide you want to teach! Its an incredible journey and you will learn lots about anatomy, philosophy, asana, mediation and yourself! This knowledge will come off the mat in so many incredible ways that aren’t teaching.
Myth 2: You have to be flexible
Definitely not a requirement! Yoga meets you where you are and should be adapted to suit you. You will likely gain mobility as we go through the course but that’s not really the point!
Myth 3: You’re too old/young
If you’re breathing you can do yoga, if you can do yoga you can inspire others to try it out. We have teachers from 18 to 78 years old. Older then 78 …. cool … I’ll have to update this page if you join us!
Myth 4: You need to be advanced/experienced
What does “advanced” even mean? We all come with different backgrounds and experience of life. We require an openness and a curiosity to learn. Some times beginners mind is an easier starting place then coming form a fixed form of practice. Book a call below to chat to one of the faculty
Myth 5: You need a yoga body
There is no such thing as a yoga body, Every body is a yoga body! Need adjustments, blocks, variations, alternatives, great! I love supporting people find their pose and as you go through the course you’ll learn the skills to find them for yourself and others.
If you are thinking about becoming a yoga teacher don’t let any of these fears stop you! It is easy in a world of social media to see a yoga teacher stand on their head and think “I can’t do that so how can I teach yoga?” And I am here to tell you, you absolutely can! Teaching yoga isn’t about standing on your head.
