Chair Yoga: Benefits of movement and a mind-body experience for everyone
Chair Yoga is one of the most inclusive and empowering forms of yoga you can teach. It supports us to create a space that is accessible for seniors, wheelchair users, people recovering from injury, people with limited mobility and everyone else!
In this post, we’ll explore what chair yoga is, its benefits, and why teaching it can transform lives.
What is Chair Yoga?
Chair yoga incorporates a chair (shocker I know 😂 ) and your students are likely going to spend most of the class sitting in the chair but the chair can also be used as a support for standing poses which are great for balance.
Chair yoga meets the student where they are!
Why teach chair yoga?
Chair yoga is magical!
When I used to teach Chair Yoga in the National Rehabilitation Centre there was a lady who could only move her eyes and yet she said it was her favourite part of her week!
The feedback we get from our chair yoga students is an amazing gift.
Also, as someone who’s Dad is on the receiving end of chair yoga I can tell you how magical it is as a family member.
